Simon Lang has a BSc Honours (1985) and Phd (1994) from the University of Queensland. He worked for the Geological Survey of Queensland until 1992, when he joined Queensland University of Technology in 1992 as a lecturer in sedimentology and stratigraphy, later moving to the National Centre for Petroleum Geology and Geophysics (NCPGG) in 1999 as Associate Professor in sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy. Simon has supervised over 50 Honours, Masters and PhD students on petroleum and mineral related projects in a range of basins in Australia, Indonesia, PNG, and Venezuela. He is currently the project leader on reservoir characterisation for the APCRC program on Geological disposal of CO2 (GEODISC), in addition to leading research on sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and reservoir characterisation at the NCPGG. Simon conducts industry training courses on sequence stratigraphy and reservoir sedimentology, as well as doing consulting for a range of petroleum companies. Simon is a member of PESA, GSA, AAPG, SEPM, IAS and IPA.
